in the days that have followed our christmas in july/housewarming party, my
spirit has felt a certain satisfaction. one that allows me to be grateful. and only
grateful. i sometimes forget how much a person is capable of. the kindness one
can extend to another and having the humility to accept it.
the kitchen was fragrant with a roast & casseroles & so many desserts. the
dishes were being washed and dried. wine was being poured & ladled.
the fire was being fed & stoked. and the house was filled with laughter and
chit chat and love. things were being taken care of...we were being taken
care of. this is the fat of life. the juicy, tender bits that melt in your mouth.
surrounding oneself with a community that is rich in sincerity & generosity.
our friends give us so much hope. even when the impossible happens &
things get worse, they are there to pick us right back up.

i loved that bit about humility to accept one's kindness.
