plumas-eureka national park pt.2

the following morning, i woke up to the sound of a grizzly bear, growling off in the distance. it sounded like it was only a few meters from the tent but i know that forests play tricks on you, sounds bouncing off of rocks and trees. the growling made me miss my nephews and reminded me that there are predators in this part of the world that i should respect. we made ourselves a mighty breakfast, pancakes, bacon, eggs, hot choccies & got ready for the day's activities. Packing up our camp, burning the last of our wood, and enjoying the morning sun before our big hike.

i don't think i'm a bad hiker and tho i hadn't done much exercise since my last frisbee game, i didn't think i was going to be as terrible as i was! my friends were basically flying up the mountain as i lagged behind. my friends, lori & kristin, are naturally brisk walkers and i guess i like to take my time getting places. either way, i struggled hard, yet made it to the top. it was a really beautiful hike. mountain meadows, fallen trees, pinecones as big as my head, ect. i really admire this part of america. and next time i visit, i want to spend more time in the woods.

thanks to lori & kristin for taking me out and exploring with me! i miss your sweet faces.
